The 6.4-inch phablet may be coming in multiple SKUs and with weaker hardware than previously expected.

According to a Xiaomi teaser, the Mi Max will have its official unveiling this coming May 10th.

A recent entry in the GFXBench database is contradicting earlier rumors about the phablet sporting a Snapdragon 820 SoC and QHD display. Instead, the Mi Max may be a much more mainstream offering with the middle-class Snapdragon 650 SoC and a FHD display. Two different SKUs may be available with one lower-end model carrying 2 GB RAM and 16 GB eMMC and another higher-end model carrying 3 GB and 32 GB eMMC. Both models are otherwise expected to have MicroSD support and the same 16 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras. Fingerprint scanner, dual SIM, 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 4.1 round up the list of core features.

Though none of this information is confirmed, it won't be long before Xiaomi reveals all the details. Supposed renders of the Mi Max smartphone were spotted online just last week. The Chinese company is one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers alongside Huawei and Samsung according to the latest data from market analysts.
