Surprisingly, Windows 10 Mobile requirements seem to be even lower than those of Windows Phone 8.1.

Microsoft has just published the minimum hardware requirements for upcoming Windows 10 Mobile operating system, at the same time giving us an idea of what we can expect from low-end smartphones that will run the new mobile platform.

Surprisingly, Windows 10 Mobile requirements seem to be even lower than those of Windows Phone 8.1. What it might mean is that Microsoft intends to increase its share in the the lowest-end segment, which currently is being dominated by a plethora of Android-based smartphones.

According to the information disclosed by the Redmond giant, the minimum hardware requirements for a smartphone to be able to run Windows 10 Mobile are as follows:

  • a touch screen with at least 800 x 480 pixels resolution
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 4 GB of storage space
  • a camera with at least 640 x 480 resolution sensor

The lowest processor model to be supported by Windows 10 Mobile seems to be Snapdragon 210. The system will also work with Snapdragon 810, 808, 615 and Intel X3 Sofia, as well as a variety of older chips powering phones that will be eligible for upgrade from Windows 8.1 Phone.
