Vivo XPlay6: High-End-Galaxy S7 edge-lookalike with dual-cam
After releasing the midrange selfie phones X9 and X9 Plus last week, Vivo also announced a successor to this years XPlay5. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge-lookalike is still based on a 5.46 inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution and did not update the processor to the Snapdragon 821. Instead it keeps the Snapdragon 820 that Vivo already used in the XPlay5. Vivo did update the RAM to 6 GB and storage to 128 GB but there is no Micro-SD slot for memory expansion.
The 8.2 mm metal case is able to house a 4,080 mAh battery, plus there are ES9038 + 3xOPA1622 audio chips for better quality sound. The back side features a new dual-camera-system consisting of a 12 megapixel Sony IMX 362 lens with 4 axis OIS, an aperture of F/1.7 and 1,4 um sized pixels. Vivo also used dual-core autofocus for faster focusing, 4K recording is supported as well. Next to the 12 megapixel lens, a 5 megapixel camera is collecting depth information to add better bokeh effects similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. At the front, Vivo added a 16 megapixel camera.
Bluetooth 4.2 is integrated as well but we do not have any information regarding the WiFi module yet. The modem lacks support for a lot of international LTE-bands, so if you are interested, check the specs and compare with your provider. Android 6.0.1 comes preinstalled together with version 3.0 of FunTouch OS. Vivo will start selling the XPlay6 starting December 12th but it won't come cheap. $650 is the official rate for it in mainland China.
