Unreleased TouchPad Go leaks online

Teaser
The 7-inch tablet may have been on the cusp of its release date before the entire TouchPad family was discontinued

While it’s no surprise that HP went overboard with the production and sales estimates of the 9.7-inch TouchPad, the manufacturer actually had another model down the pipeline.

Called the TouchPad Go, the 6.95-inch tablet would have had a 1024x768 resolution 4:3 display,  dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdraon APQ8060 CPU, 1GB RAM, 32GB SSD, 3G, GPS and front and rear cameras. This is according to Chinese website palmjoy.com, who claims to have the never released tablet on their hands.

The TouchPad Go was seemingly already deep in its development phases as the tablet was spotted at the FCC early August and then allegedly found in China a month later at its final retail form. Codenamed “Opal”, the device could be traced all the way back to January when it was reportedly scheduled to launch three months after the star-crossed 9.7-inch TouchPad.

The future of WebOS and its development team remains up in the air. While HP has continued support for TouchPad users in the form of software updates, the manufacturer may begin to shift its resources towards Windows 8 tablets in the future instead.

In the meantime, check out the source below for more snapshots of the unreleased tablet.
