While the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 handsets will get Android O for sure, it is very likely that the Galaxy S6 series and the Note 5 phablet will never receive an official update to Android 8.0.

Although Android 8.0 is quite close and quite a few smartphone users are still waiting to get their first Android Nougat-based updates, SamMobile has just unveiled the list of Samsung devices expected to get the next major update.

These are the Samsung devices that will get Android 8.0 for sure: Galaxy S8/S8+, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S7/S7 Active/S7 Edge, the latest A3/A5/A7, the latest J5/J7, Galaxy C7 Pro/C9 Pro, Galaxy Tab S3, Galaxy J7 Prime, as well as Galaxy Note FE.

Sadly, there is also a list of Samsung devices that will never receive an official Android O update, but their owners will probably have the chance to load some third-party ROM based on Android 8.0 on it sooner or later. This list includes the Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 lineup, as well as the Galaxy J and Galaxy A handsets launched in 2016.

Since Android O is not official yet and Samsung still has to confirm which devices get the update, all the above should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
