Pre-orders for the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are now available with an availability date set for May 31st.

The wait for the unlocked Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the United States is finally over, as preorders are now available. Although unlocked versions of the phones have already been available for purchase through online retailers for some time, today marks the first time buyers in the US will be able to purchase the unlocked phones from Samsung or Best Buy.

As of now, you can preorder your unlocked Galaxy S8 and S8+ phones on Samsung.com in addition to BestBuy.com. The unlocked 64GB Galaxy S8 will set you back at least $724.99 and it will cost you $824.99 for the unlocked 64GB Galaxy S8+. The unlocked Galaxy S8 and S8+ will have no compatibility issues with most US mobile carriers, though they will charge an activation fee and require a SIM card change.

Unlocked models tend to cut down on bloatware, but Samsung tends to take its sweet time updating them, so that’s something consumers should be aware of before making the purchase. Those who bought unlocked versions of the Galaxy S7 didn’t get Android 7.0 Nougat until today, almost nine months after Nougat first released.

Both unlocked phone should begin shipping at the end of May.
