Ubuntu heading for Tablets

Shuttleworth might be presenting the Ubuntu for Tablets and Smartphones in the Developer summit, which is may later get released by April 2012

As we have a lot of Tablets in the market we can choose between these devices according to our choice. But do you even feel the same for the platforms? Well in the market we have mostly Android platform powering the devices except a few like those from Apple and Blackberry.

If you really feel so, one more option is coming your way as reported by ZDNet. Shuttleworth is all set to announce his plans to bring Ubuntu to Smartphones as well as the Tablets. The company has said that they were discussing this issue for about 18 months now.

During the keynote in the Ubuntu Developers Summit, Mark Shuttleworth is expected to present the next version of the Linux distribution. The Summit is going to take place next week.

This next version will be known as the Ubuntu 12.04, and is scheduled to get released by April of 2012. This platform is expected to offer an extended long-term support period for the business user and its main focus will reportedly shift towards mobile.

The new unity shell of Ubuntu will play a major role in Canonical’s plans which will lead them to Ubuntu user experience in smaller screens. The Qt-based Unity 2D experience will be implemented in the mobiles while, the Qt Quick user interface framework will be implemented while building touch friendly mobile experience.
