Reviews for the Toshiba Tecra S3
Source: Laptop Mag Archive.org version
Don’t let its Nvidia graphics processor fool you; the Toshiba Tecra S3 is designed for business users, thanks to features like a TPM security chip and a fingerprint reader. This black-and-silver notebook has a very manageable 6.3-pound weight, but the Tecra S3’s 13.5 x 11.3-inch footprint is too unwieldy for road warriors. It runs for over three hours on battery power, which is nice, and that time doesn’t drop at all when the Wi-Fi adapter is turned on. The Wi-Fi performance was rather good, too. The Tecra S3’s 12.6-Mbps performance at 5 feet from our access point is nothing to write home about, but its 10-Mbps data transfer rate from 50 feet is very impressive and more indicative of real-world conditions.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 is the mobile medium class of the GeForce Go 6000 series for notebooks. Its performance is good with normal current consumption (in 2006). Older games like Doom3 run fluently.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Pentium M: With Intel chip set (855 or 915) and Intel WLAN also available with the name Centrino (name for the package).
In the comparison very fast per megahertz and very modest with weaknesses in floating point operations.
It is also available as a low voltage version with very small current consumption.

15.10":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.2.9 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
Toshiba: Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese conglomerate or technology group. The company was established in 1939 and in 1978 Toshiba became the official company name. The company's products and services include power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators and escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard drives, printers, batteries, lighting, logistics and information technology. Toshiba was one of the largest manufacturers of personal computers, consumer electronics, home appliances and medical equipment.
73%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
