Ultrabook tuning. The Toshiba Satellite Z930 is the second-generation of Toshiba’s ultrabook line, replacing the Satellite Z830. While the case is largely the same, the newer Satellite receives an updated Ivy Bridge processor. Does this new ultrabook bring more to the table than faster calculations? Read our review to find out.

Despite the lower than average battery life, the Satellite Z930 proved itself to be one of the best Ultrabooks on the market, mainly due to its light weight, slim design and great overall performance. We found it to be comfortable to use once we got accustomed to its keyboard and screen viewing angles and think it's a great model to consider if you want something highly portable to carry with you on a daily basis.

As far as Ultrabooks are concerned, the Satellite Z930 is a beauty. It's only about 17mm at its thickest point and it weighs well under 1.2kg. Despite being so thin and light it still manages to pack in full-sized ports and very good performance. Pick it up if you're interested in a conventional laptop that you will be able to easily carry with you on a day-to-day basis.

The keyboard won’t suit everyone, but the Satellite Z930 provides strong performance wrapped up in an attractive, lightweight design. And, at just £799, it’s competitively priced for an Ultrabook.

We were positive about Toshiba's first Ultrabook, and the Satellite Z930 is another shining example of how to maximise connectivity, design and value for money performance. If you want an Ultrabook exclusively for entertainment then we'd recommend looking elsewhere, but as a mobile workstation, the Toshiba Satellite Z930-10X stands as an excellent purchase.

13.3: This is a common display format for subnotebooks. Netbooks, UMPC and some subnotebooks have tinier displays. Nevertheless, the majority of standard laptops has a higher format. The advantage of a small display is, that the subnotebook can be small dimensioned and can be carried easily. Further the small display needs few energy, which improves the battery runtime and in consequence the mobility. The disadvantage is that the reading of texts is a bit exhausting for the eyes, especially with high resolutions.

1.1 kg:
83.33%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
