Toshiba's 11.6in Satellite T110 makes you appreciate the fuss Intel makes about multi-core processors. Just so no punter mistakes the T110 for a netbook, Toshiba has bulked up this notebook more than it needed to. Still, it's an attractive looking laptop with a wealth of features. If only it was priced more keenly, particularly since it only has a single-core CPU.

The Toshiba Satellite T110 represents good value. It's suitable for anyone who wants notebook that's small and mobile yet more powerful than a netbook. It has good connectivity (including 802.11n wireless networking and Bluetooth), ships with the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7, and it's reasonably comfortable to use. Most importantly, it has a long battery life. The only drawbacks are its touchpad and keyboard, which we think could be a little better, and the glossy screen, which can be annoying. Nevertheless, this is a worthwhile notebook for anyone who travels frequently.

A Striking Companion. The Toshiba T110-R10 represents the lightest device of the Satellite range that bids a complete configuration despite its small size. Toshiba's Satellite range, developed for private persons, has a total of 22 model ranges with several alternatives. The biggest models are equipped with a 17.3 inch display and the smallest model, our prototype, has an 11.6 inch HD display.

Toshiba has blazed a bit of a trail with powerful, but dinky laptops ever since the dawn of its much-lauded R500. So how does its latest little lappie, the Toshiba Satellite T110, stack up? Does its size mean its just a beefed up netbook? Or does it point to a future of specced up size zero machines? Read our complete Toshiba Satellite T110 review now and we’ll reveal all.
A cracking small laptop and a bargain at the price.

Toshiba's Satellite T110 is a slimline laptop that's just a little bigger than a typical 10in netbook yet approximately twice as powerful. f you're after a small laptop that also has a little bit of speed, then the Toshiba Satellite T110 is a good choice. It's not perfect -- we think its touchpad and keyboard could be better, and its glossy screen is annoying -- but it's got plenty of useful features, it's relatively light and it has very good battery life.

Toshiba's Satellite T110 is liable to split opinion right down the middle. A strip of chrome chases round the sides of the chassis, ostentatiously surrounding the status lights on the front edge. It's an eyeful.

If there is a weakness, it's that the T110 comes with too much bloatware. Some of it is useful, like the Eco monitor that gives you a realtime graph of your power usage (around 7-10W in the battery-saving desktop). There are over 50 entries related to Toshiba's software in the Start menu, and that's too much.

By combining slim mobility with a strong specification and features, the Satellite T110 is a real bargain at this low price. While the small screen could potentially hinder family use, the fact you can work in equal comfort at home or on the move makes this a versatile and affordable choice that is very easy to like.

Toshiba: Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese conglomerate or technology group. The company was established in 1939 and in 1978 Toshiba became the official company name. The company's products and services include power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators and escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard drives, printers, batteries, lighting, logistics and information technology. Toshiba was one of the largest manufacturers of personal computers, consumer electronics, home appliances and medical equipment.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: The graphics core of the Intel GL40 and GS40 chipset features a slower clocked GMA 4500MHD (400 versus 533 MHz). Because of the slower core speed, full Blu-Ray Logo support is not given and the gaming performance is a bit worse.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Onboard (shared Memory) GPU built in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset (Montevina). Because of two more shaders and a higher core clock, much faster than the old GMA X3100. Still not advisable for gamers (DirectX 10 games not playable or only with very low settings). The integrated video processor is able to help decode HD videos (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) , e.g., for a fluent Blu-Ray playback with slow CPUs.

Intel Celeron M: It is a Pentium M with halved level 2 Cache and limited on FSB 400. The characteristic of this processor is the speed, which is hardly slower than an equivalent Pentium M. However it can change the speed not dynamically like the Pentium M and therefore needs without load more current.
It is also available as Low Voltage Version with very small current consumption.
743: Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processor for small and light subnotebooks. Does not support Speedstep (more power consumption in idle mode), 64 Bit, and Virtualization (VT-x).
Intel Pentium:
SU2700: Entry level Single Core CPU with less power saving states as the Core line and because of the slow clock rate (1.3 GHz) not very fast. Directly soldered to the mainboard and therefore for thin and light laptops (CULV class).

77.59%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
