iQOO is said to launch an Android phone based on the new Snapdragon 888+ chipset soon, and will thereby replace a flagship with the OEM's top 120W Flash Charge technology. Now, a report from the Chinese media claims that its immediate successor will be the one to debut an upgrade that could fill its battery even faster.

iQOO is a sub-brand of Vivo that often releases what could be called "flagship killers": phones with specs from the biggest Android flagships of a given year, but definitely without their prices. The latest example of this is the 7, which used its Snapdragon 888 to shoot to the top of performance charts on its launch.

Now, Qualcomm has released this processor's mid-year Plus refresh, which has in turn fueled leaks pointing to an iQOO 8 powered by this silicon. Now, the same phone is rumored to launch with an upgraded version of Flash Charge, which reaches an industry-leading 120W rate in the 7.

However, it is now projected to reach 160W in the 8. Then again, the battery capacity of this putative phone has yet to be hinted at, meaning it is hard to say by how much the alleged new standard could cut charging times.

Similarly, there are no indications as yet as to how the iQOO 8 will look. It is possible that it may not get far away from the style of the 7 (presuming it exists, of course). On that note, this device is now slated to launch as a new Monster Edition with an added orange colorway, to become available during India's Amazon Prime Day (July 26-27, 2021).
