The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max remains without a stable MIUI 12 upgrade in India as another Stable Beta update arrives
It seems that the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has missed the train for MIUI 12. While Xiaomi boasted that it has upgraded over 30 devices to its latest OS, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max remains adrift on MIUI 11 in most cases. While V12.0.1.0.QJXINXM arrived in September, it was on a limited release under Xiaomi's Stable Beta program. V12.0.1.0.QJXINXM never reached stable status though, leaving most Redmi Note 9 Pro Max handsets on V11.0.4.0.QJXINXM.
Now, V12.0.2.0.QJXINXM has arrived, but it is another Stable Beta update. V12.0.2.0.QJXINXM also brings the November 2020 security patch to the device as the only change from V12.0.1.0.QJXINXM. Xiaomi Firmware Updater has published the recovery and OTA files for V12.0.2.0.QJXINXM should you wish to download them. However, please be aware that Xiaomi does not consider them ready for a wider release, for some reason.
All in all, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has not received the same software support as the Redmi Note 9 Pro, its global sibling. The two share identical specifications, but the Redmi Note 9 Pro has received MIUI 12 across all branches of MIUI. Many branches have been upgraded to V12.0.3.0 of MIUI too, so the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is stuck on an older version of MIUI 12 to boot. Sadly, Xiaomi is yet to confirm when it will issue a stable MIUI 12 upgrade for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.
