Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy Note 21 launch is not in question, dismissing earlier rumours about the series' discontinuation in 2021. However, industry insiders are of the impression that there will be only one variant of the phablet this time around.

Tracking the Samsung Galaxy Note 21's fate has been quite exhausting. We've had several reports about the smartphone being cancelled, while others insist that the smartphone will still be launched, but will be the last of its kind. It appears that Samsung wants to quash all of these rumours once and for all. A Samsung official has told a South Korean news outlet that the company will launch the Galaxy Note 21 as per schedule.

The information sits in line with an earlier report which said that the Galaxy Note series would be discontinued in 2022. It also states that there will be only one Galaxy Note 21 variant this time around. Old school Galaxy Note aficionados should welcome the move, as the existence of multiple variants somewhat defeat the purpose of a Galaxy Note smartphone.

Should there be only one Galaxy Note 21 variant, we can expect it to be an iterative upgrade over the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra. Galaxy Note phones launched in the recent past have followed the same trend. Samsung could still pull off one last hurrah and surprise us with some never-before-seen features, which would serve as a befitting farewell for the iconic Galaxy Note series.
