The Amazfit GTR 2e and GTS 2e receive a major new feature with their latest software updates
Amazfit has finally brought Amazon Alexa voice control to the GTS 2e and GTR 2e, two of its most recent smartwatches. Initially, the pair supported basic offline voice controls, which Amazfit restricted to setting an alarm or playing locally-stored music.
Firmware version 1.0.2.31 changes this by allowing the GTS 2e and GTR 2e to be linked to an Amazon account. According to a company Twitter post, the update is already rolling out in India. There is no suggestion that Amazfit has limited this update to India though, so it should arrive in other countries and regions within the next few weeks.
You can install firmware version 1.0.2.31 through the Zepp app. Once installed, Amazfit claims that the GTS 2e and GTR 2e will be capable of the following, among other things:
- Playing music
- Providing weather forecasts
- Providing traffic updates
- Providing sports updates
- Setting alarms
