System76 launches the Galago UltraPro laptop

Teaser
The new laptop will bring together Ubuntu OS, a Haswell processor, and Intel Iris Pro graphics

System76 are well known for championing open source software and only using Ubuntu as an operating system on their products. The American company have recently revamped part of their line and included Intel Haswell processors and new Intel GPUs in many of their products.

The Galago UltraPro stands out among the other new System76 laptops in that it is an entirely new design. It is sleek and thin, and every bit of what you would expect from a top-end ultrabook. It weighs only 3.80 pounds and is just 0.75 inches thick, but System76 claim the new Intel internals make the Galago suitable for gaming.

The ultra-portable laptop features a 14.1-inch 1080p 1920 x 1080 IPS display, a quad-core Intel Core i7 4750HQ processor, Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics with 128 MB eDRAM , 4 GB RAM, a 500 GB HDD, 802.11 a/b/g/n wi-fi, Bluetooth 4.0, an HDMI, a display port, an SD card slot, and a 1 MP HD webcam.

The Galago UltraPro is available for pre-order from the company's website starting at US$995, with options for more RAM and storage. Shipments are expected to start in July.
