Successor to the ZTE Axon may be the Axon 7
Pre-school lessons would tell you that the number "two" is followed by the number "three", but ZTE will be challenging the world by launching the Axon 7 as the direct successor to the original Axon according to the latest TENAA documents. The move can be seen as a direct response to the impending iPhone 7 as the hypothetical "Axon 2" name would automatically look inferior to Apple's flagship on paper and on first glance. The Chinese manufacturer is expected to officially announce the smartphone this coming May 26th in Beijing, China.
The flagship Axon 7 smartphone is predicted to have the following specifications:
- 5.5-inch QHD display from Sharp
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC
- 4 GB RAM
- 64 GB eMMC w/ MicroSD support
- 20 MP rear + 8 MP front cameras
- Stereo speakers
- 3140 mAh battery
Previously leaked images claim that the new Axon smartphone has dispensed with the screws on the bottom edge of the chassis. Whether or not this will make serviceability more difficult remains to be seen.
