IFA 2013 | Sony unveils the F886 Android Walkman

Teaser
The device features digital noise cancelling and a 4-inch display

With mobile devices increasingly able to do it all, the call for something like a Walkman (even if it can run Android apps) certainly isn't what it once was. Despite this, Sony has made an interesting new addition to the Walkman line with a product that remembers to put music first.

The Walkman F886 features a 4-inch Triluminos LCD touchscreen, 32 GB internal memory, Android 4.1 with full Google Play compatibility, 802.11 a/b/g/n wifi, NFC and Bluetooth for one-touch device pairing, High-Resolution audio support (WAV, FLAC, and Apple lossless) for better than CD sound quality, digital noise cancelling, and up to 35 hours of battery life.

There may be advantages to having a single gadget that can do it all like a high-end smartphone (if only to save pocket space), but there are certainly also advantages to having specialized devices for each task. Sound quality on the F886 likely outdoes any phone, it's (almost certainly) less expensive and doesn't need to be upgraded as often, and listening to music won't mean you're running around looking for an outlet halfway through the day.

Prices and availability for the Walkman F886 have not yet been announced.
