Sony to debut SmartWatch at Mobile Asia Expo

Teaser
Sony's Twitter feed hints at update SmartWatch being unveiled at next week's Mobile Asia Expo.

Smart fashion has been all the rage this past year, beginning with Google Glass and the frequent teasers by LG, Apple and even Microsoft. Surprisingly, the first official entry may come via Sony, who could release something as soon as next week.

Sony has had a SmartWatch for a while now, but its price and difficult phone integration have caused it to fly under the radar. Now, the company's Twitter feed is teasing the next edition of the watch, claiming that 1/3rd of smartphone users want smart wrist wear. In addition, the @sonyxperia feed added a render of the watch, to go along with a "tick-tock" tweet counting down to the Mobile Asia Expo, which begins next Friday.

While the race towards a smart wristwatch continues, Sony's offering should give us a better idea about how the new generation of watches will look like. Furthermore, we'll definitely keep an eye out for the amount of power on the inside, as heat production could play a major role in crowning a smartwatch king.
