Equipped with a 5 MP front camera, Xperia C4 it is touted by Sony as „the selfie smartphone”.

Sony announced today its new smartphone, Xperia C4. The Android 5.0 Lollipop-powered mid-range device comes with a 5.5-inch (that’s 0.3 inch bigger than the C3 model), 1920x1080, IPS display and 1.7 GHz, 64-bit, octa-core MediaTek processor (no information on specific model has been released yet).

With Xperia C4, Sony has put a lot of focus on photography features. What distinguished the C4 from the competition most, is the 5 MP front camera with 25mm wide-angle lens, and Sony’s Exmor R sensor. The camera is supported by a LED flash and allows taking HDR photos for good exposure in harsh lighting conditions. The main, rear-facing camera uses a 13 MP Exmor R sensor, of course also with HDR capabilities.

Sony’s new „selfie smartphone” comes with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of on-board storage space and a micro-SD reader supporting card up to 128 GB. With a 2600 mAh battery, it should allow up to 13 hours of talk time and 8 hours of video viewing time.

Xperia C4 can boast an aluminium case that will come in three color options: black, white and mint. The screen is described as „scratch-resistant” but there is no information on what technology has been used to achieve that.

Sony Xperia C4 will be available in Single SIM and Dual SIM in select markets from the beginning of June 2015. Pricing and availability in specific regions are still to be unveiled.
