Samsung updates Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 tablet to the Tab 4 Advanced
Samsung has been slowly updating its Galaxy Tab family of tablets for the 2016 calendar year with the latest being the Tab A 10.1 2016. Now, the South Korean manufacturer has detailed the new Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 Advanced to supplant the two-year old Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. This "Advanced" model appears identical to the outgoing model, but with improved internals to bring the tablet up to speed.
Similar to the new Tab A 10.1, the Tab 4 10.1 Advanced comes with an octa-core 1.7 GHz Exynos 7870 SoC, but will maintain a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. System RAM has been bumped up to 2 GB and the integrated 32 GB eMMC can now be expanded up to 64 GB via MicroSD. Rear and front cameras will be 5 MP and 2 MP, respectively, with dual-band 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. There will reportedly be no LTE version.
Unlike the Tab A 10.1 and its Portrait mode setup, the buttons on the Tab 4 10.1 Advanced encourage the Landscape orientation. The mainstream tablet includes no support for S Pen or fingerprint reader. Other specifications are a 6800 mAh battery and dimensions of 176.4 x 243.4 x 7.9 mm. The Samsung TouchWiz interface will be installed on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Official launch dates and prices have not been announced for Europe or North America.
