Samsung's monitor will wirelessly charge your smartphone
Samsung has just taken the wraps off the SE370 monitor. The most interesting thing about it is that it features a built-in wireless charging plate. Users of Galaxy S6 or any other smartphone supporting the Qi wireless charging standard will now be able to replenish the handset’s battery just by putting the phone in the dedicated space on the monitor’s base.
The Samsung SE370 eliminates the hassle of having to purchase and keep separate charging kits, saving cost and improving workspace utilization. The charging plate’s positioning at the centre of the monitor’s base also means the user can keep an eye on the phone while it’s charging, thus reducing the chance of missing calls or messages.
The monitor itself comes in two sizes: a 23.6-inch and 27-inch. It features a PLS panel with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. According to Samsung, it has 4 ms response time and 250 (in the 23.6-inch version) or 300 cd/m2 (in the 27-inch one) maximum brightness. It also supports AMD FreeSync technology.
Samsung SE370 comes with one HDMI 1.4 port, one DisplayPort 1.2, and one D-Sub port. There is no information regarding pricing or availability at this point.
