Samsung's latest Ivy Bridge notebook features Full HD resolution, NVIDIA graphics and JBL Audio

In a press release today, Samsung officially took the covers off their newest family member, the 17.3” Series 7 CHRONOS notebook.  The company had previously upgraded a bunch of their notebooks with Intel’s Ivy Bridge CPUs, and the newest addition is no different. Marketed as a desktop replacement, the powerful device comes with an unnamed 3rd generation Core i7 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and packs a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M for solid gaming.

As is befitting of a 17.3” behemoth, the laptop's display features a Full-HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and at 300-nits it's supposedly 40% brighter than traditional PCs. Samsung’s MaxScreen technology also manages to greatly reduce the size of the bezel and allows the large display to fit within a smaller chassis. Furthermore, the laptop should last around 8 hours per charge, although we don’t foresee it being lugged around very often due to its hefty weight of 6.56 pounds.

The 17.3” Series 7 CHRONOS retails for $1,499, and is currently available through Samsung resellers and distribution channels.
