Samsung has launched its new, 144Hz monitor in 32- and 27-inch variants. They claim that the new product, the CJG5, will be "reasonably" priced while offering decent specs and features. While there is no information on when it will be available, it has quite a lot of visibility at Gamescom this year.

Samsung has unveiled a new, high-resolution curved monitor in the ‘affordable’ bracket on the first day (August 21, 2018) of Gamescom 2018. This model, the CJG5, has a 144Hz refresh rate, and is bezel-less on three sides. Like all curved monitors, it is intended to deliver a more natural field of view for immersive gaming or viewing. The new Samsung product also delivers high contrast and, as the company claims, optimizations for different content.

The CJG5 comes in 27- (C27JG5) and 32- (C32JG5) inch variants, and exhibits a 2,560x1,440 (or WQHD) resolution across a curved vertical-alignment (VA) screen. It has a contrast ratio of 3000:1, as well as gamma, sharpness and saturation levels that can be modulated depending on the content type (e.g. movie or game) displayed. Samsung has also included a frame-rate of 144Hz in the CJG5 for optimal graphics and, thus, more realistic imagery. This feature, along with the 1800R curvature, may also fight visual fatigue.

Samsung is showcasing this new product in its own booth at Gamescom this year. However, the company is also partnering with Deep Silver, Logitech, SquareEnix, PUBG Corp., Warner Bros. and Ubisoft, so that they will be using some CJG5s, along with other Samsung products, to demonstrate some of their own new features and products. So, if you are at Gamescom this year, keep an eye out for how many of these new monitors you can spot.
