The Samsung NF310 features a unique design, a dual core processor, and a high resolution display, not to mention some of the best speakers I’ve ever heard on a netbook (which isn’t really saying much). But at a time when you can pick up many netbooks for less than $300, Samsung is selling the NF310 for $399. So are the extra features enough to justify the relatively high price tag?

Shark-Design. If mini, then at least with style. The swinging forms are conspicuous, the case is grippy in the hand, and the matte HD Ready display gives good oversight of the desktop. Does the Dual-Core shark also impress in terms of battery life?

Samsung has chosen to play the design card to try and stand out in what is an increasingly crowded netbook market and has launched the NF310 Shark. In the netbook category, the NF310 gives decent battery life. It's a shame that Samsung has settled for such a poor quality screen however. The 1015PEM has the same configuration with a much better panel but lower battery life.

Samsung is a laptop maker that's been on a tear lately. Though the company is largely known for its TVs and smartphones, its U.S. assortment of computers has stood out lately for offering a great mix of design, features, and affordability. The curved, eye-catching Samsung NF310 is a bold 10-inch Netbook with some premium features for its price, but in the end it's not different enough to break out of the mold.

Netbooks have become extremely popular among many groups of people, especially the always "on-the-go" folk. The Samsung NF310-A01 is a 10-inch netbook with a dual-core CPU from Intel and has a high-resolution display and extremely long battery life, which are all things that make a great netbook.

System performance is quite admirable, but the 1GB of RAM holds it back slightly. It is fairly easily upgradable yourself to 2GB if you wish to do it, which is probably worth it. Besides that, average computing tasks work very well and were very quick with this netbook. For a low price of around $400, this is a netbook that's definitely worth a good look.

Netbooks are still key products despite claims that the Apple iPad and the rest of the tablet space are eating into sales. Intel recently launched the first dual-core version of its Atom processor for the mobile space. Standing out from the latest batch of dual-core netbooks is the Samsung NF310-A01 ($399.99 street). It comes with a great user experience, a high-resolution screen, and more than seven hours of battery life. Its price, meanwhile, is close to the Toshiba mini NB305-N410 ($340 list, 4.5 stars)—the netbook it replaces as the new Editors' Choice in this category.

Standing out in the netbook crowd has become quite the challenge of late, but Samsung still managed to impress us with the sleek design, high resolution, and dual-core Atom processor of its NF310. This slick netbook sports a sharp design, high resolution, and a dual-core CPU. The price-to-performance ratio is good, and anyone looking for a good netbook deal will feel comfortable with this one.

Samsung: The Samsung Group is composed of numerous international businesses, all united under the Samsung brand in South Korea. The meaning of the Korean word Samsung is "tristar" or "three stars". The Samsung brand is one of the most important brands of South Korea. Samsung is an international notebook manufacturer of medium size according market shares and reviews.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrated (shared memory) graphics card in the intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimally faster than an old GMA 950 and therefore not suited for 3D games or HD videos (only MPEG2 acceleration).
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Atom: The Intel Atom series is a 64-Bit (not every model supports 64bit) microprocessor for cheap and small notebooks (so called netbooks), MIDs, or UMPCs. The speciality of the new architecture is the "in order" execution (instead of the usual and faster "out of order" execution). Therefore, the transistor count of the Atom series is much lower and, thus, cheaper to produce. Furthermore, the power consumption is very low. The performance per Megahertz is therfore worse than the old Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz on par with a 1.6 GHz Atom).
N550: Dual core Atom with a TDP of only 8.5 Watt. Because of the slow clock speed of 1.5 GHz it may be sometimes even slower than a N465 Atom CPU.
10.1: The netbook/subnotebook has a quite small display format. Nonetheless, it is a common format for netbooks. The advantage is, that the subnotebook/netbook can be small dimensioned and can be carried easily. Further the small display has the advantage, that it needs few energy, which improves the battery runtime and in consequence the mobility. The disadvantage is that the reading of texts is a bit exhausting for the eyes. It is difficult to use high resolutions.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
1.3 kg:
This subnotebook is one of the most lightweight of all notebooks and can be carried very easily. There exist only few sub-notebooks, which weight less. 10 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
1.3 kg:
79.2%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
