Retina MacBook Pro finally gets Haswell

The refresh brings faster processors and better battery life

After the impressive refresh of the MacBook Air earlier this year, expectations were high that the MacBook Pro would be similarly improved. The result is both the 13-inch and 15-inch models have been significantly boosted in pretty much every way, and the the prices have even been shaved down a little.

The 13-inch MBP has a 13.3-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display and is available with either a dual-core 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 or a dual-core 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, and Intel Iris graphics.

The 15-inch model has a 15.4-inch 2880 x 1800 IPS display and is powered by either a quad-core 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 or a quad-core 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Pro graphics, and optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M discreet graphics.

Both models also feature OS X Mavericks, up to 16 GB of RAM, up to 1 TB of PCLe flash storage, the latest 802.11ac wifi, 2 Thunderbolt 2 ports, and improved battery life with the 13-inch offering up to 9 hours of run time while the 15-inch can run for up to 8 hours.

The two Macbook Pros are available now with prices ranging from US$1299 to US$1799 for the 13-inch model, and from US$1999 to US$2599 for the 15-inch.
