Redmi Watch and Mi Watch Lite receive Bluetooth SIG certification, signifying a possible global launch for the two smartwatches

Yesterday marked the announcement of the Redmi Watch, the first smartwatch by Xiaomi to be released under its Redmi sub-brand. However, it turns out that other Redmi Watch-related news appeared online yesterday, courtesy of the Bluetooth SIG. From what we can tell, Mukul Sharma discovered the listing, or was the first person to publish the finding online.

Typically, Bluetooth SIG listings point to impending global launches as companies ready their hardware with the necessary certifications to sell them internationally. The Mi Watch Lite has already been certified by the FCC, for example, clearing one of its hurdles to be sold in the US. This time, Xiaomi has certified the Redmi Watch and Mi Watch Lite simultaneously, reasserting that they carry the model numbers REDMIWT01 and REDMIWT02. The listing also confirms that both smartwatches support up to the Bluetooth 5.1 standard.

It is unclear whether Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Watch and Mi Watch Lite globally though, or just the latter. However, we may see Xiaomi release the Redmi Watch in other Asian countries like India, with the Mi Watch Lite released elsewhere. There is still no release date for either outside of China, though.
