Redmi K30 Ultra images and specs leak and a Redmi smartwatch rumor contribute to an upcoming Red(mi) letter day in August
Noted leaker Digital Chat Station has been unveiling an upcoming red letter day for Redmi by revealing a lot of exciting news about the Xiaomi subsidiary. Firstly, there were some new images of the Redmi K30 Ultra to gawp at courtesy of TENAA and then a datasheet of specifications was shared as well. It seems the upcoming Redmi K30 Ultra will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate. The device will come in 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB configurations and may deliver up to 512 GB storage. 33 W fast charging, a 64 MP main sensor, and a 4500-mAh battery are also apparently part of the K30 Ultra’s package of delights.
If that wasn’t enough already, the same tipster informed followers that Redmi is preparing to debut a smartwatch of its own. There have been rumors before about a Redmi Watch, but leaks supposedly pertaining to this wearable ended up being about the popular Redmi Band fitness tracker instead. Digital Chat Station doesn’t reveal any particulars about the Redmi smartwatch, but it seems to be expected that it will likely be a slimmed-down cheaper variant of the Xiaomi Mi Watch. This speculation has some weight behind it, as the Mi Watch was priced at a hefty 1,299 yuan (US$186) when launched.
A Redmi Watch could offer similar specs and design as the Mi Watch but obviously with some cut corners for a more affordable price point. The Xiaomi Mi gadget has a super AMOLED screen, Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC, 8 GB storage, and a 590-mAh battery: All areas Redmi could trim for its own budget smartwatch. There are further rumors that both the Redmi K30 Ultra smartphone and the Redmi Watch might be unveiled on August 14, as a leaked image from Chinese retailer JD.com already has this date penciled in for a “new product day” from Redmi. The devices would be launched in China first and then likely be made available in other markets, such as India, soon afterwards.
