The PowerVision Robot Corporation has launched a new drone. This one sets itself apart with what its maker describes as weatherproof attachments, one of which even allows the PowerEgg X to land on water. It is also rated for 4K/60 frames per second (fps) recording in flight.

Given that outdoor pursuits may once soon be a thing again, drone-piloting may see a resurgence in popularity as a pastime. On the other hand, these consumer-level UAVs, as the company PowerVision points out, often need extremely ideal conditions to fly safely. This company claims that its own latest product is designed to solve this problem.

This is because the PowerEgg X is the first drone to be compatible with accessories that make it weatherproof. They consist of a case, as well as a landing float. This last is particularly interesting as PowerVision asserts that it enables it to land on and take off from bodies of water, like a seaplane. It can also resist winds with speeds of 29 to 38 knots.

In terms of its more conventional UAV functions, it is rated for 4K/60 fps recording and up to 30 minutes of battery life. The PowerEgg X is available from retailers such as B&H Photo Video, Best Buy, Amazon and also PowerVision's own store. It has a recommended price of US$899, or $1249 for a bundle with its weather-proof kit.
