The Oppo F5 Youth is a lighter version of the selfie-centric Oppo F5. It still has a full HD+ 6-inch display but uses a MediaTek Helio P23 processor, runs the Android 7.1-based ColorOS 3.2 firmware, and features a 16 MP camera for selfies.

Not so long ago, Oppo launched the F5 phablet using the bold nickname "Selfie Expert" and, to be honest, there's a quite a lot in that handset for selfie lovers, namely a 20 MP front camera and AI-powered beautification that improves the camera's result based on the age, skin tone, and the skin type of the subject. However, the price tag around the US$300 mark did not go well with all selfie lovers, so Oppo decided to launch a lighter version of the Oppo F5. Known as the Oppo F5 Youth, this handset has just made its debut in the Philippines.

The Oppo F5 Youth has a 6-inch display with 2,160 x 1,080 pixels, next to a MediaTek Helio P23 SoC, 3 GB RAM, and 32 GB internal storage, but those who need more space can add a microSD card for more storage. The cameras are slightly weaker than those of the Oppo F5, unfortunately. On the front, there is a 16 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, while the main image shooter has been pushed down from 16 MP on the Oppo F5 to 13 MP (with f/2.2 aperture). The operating system is based on Android 7.1 Nougat and has been customized by Oppo. The version installed on the Oppo F5 Youth is known as Color OS 3.2.

Powered by a 3,200 mAh battery, the Oppo F5 Youth comes only in gold or black. Given its massive size, it is worth mentioning that this phablet weighs a bit less than 0.34 pounds. Although it has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, the Oppo F5 Youth can also be unlocked using facial recognition, but our advice is to stick with the fingerprint method.

Unfortunately, those interested can only acquire the Oppo F5 Youth from the Philippines for the time being. The retail price of a unit is around the US$275 mark.
