Several prominent mobile device OEMs have been rumored to enter the foldables market fairly soon. Now, a new tip from a display-focused leaker indicates that pretty much all of them will do so by the second half of 2021 (2H2021). The devices in question might have to compete with Samsung's more familiar offerings, including a possible affordable Galaxy Z Flip variant.

Xiaomi, Vivo, OPPO and Google are all phone-makers that have been linked to the imminent potential for first-gen foldable devices in the recent past. Now, Ross Young from the display-market consulting firm DSCC asserts that these leaks will come to fruition in 2H2021.

More specifically, Google is now projected to launch 1 product with this form-factor (which may, thus, be the rumored foldable Pixel), whereas OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi are expected to launch 4 of the same between them. In some cases, there is a slight sense of redundancy by now, as OPPO for one has a rollable prototype it might also want to debut next year.

Then again, the OEMs mentioned in this new leak have all patented foldable designs in the recent past. The resulting devices may thus be ready to take the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Flip lines on in 2021. On that note, Young also contradicts an earlier report pointing to a Z Fold Lite in 2021, and insists this "budget foldable" will be a Z Flip Lite instead.
