Quick Charge 4.0 was billed for a first half release, and it looks like the Nubia Z17 will be the first device to carry this technology.

We had a look at the Z17 a while ago and it promises to be one to watch out for. A leak which surfaced earlier today points towards the flagship being the first device to feature Qualcomm's new Quick Charge 4.0.

Qualcomm’s charging technology was launched in 2013 with Quick Charge 1.0, and the company has made large strides towards developing more efficient processes, with Quick Charge 4.0 representing the culmination of their successes on this path so far.

“To give you a better sense of this, we’ve adopted a new measurement that helps sum it up simply. We call it 5 for 5, as in 5 minutes of charging can get you 5 hours or more of battery life,” the company says on its official website. “Think of all the times you only had five minutes to charge, but that didn’t give your phone enough juice to get to the next charge. Five extra hours of battery life can get you there and further. Have more time? Quick Charge 4 is engineered to charge a typical smartphone from zero to 50 percent in about 15 minutes or less.”

Quick Charge 4.0 is expected to charge 20-30% faster than its predecessor, at a temperature 5°C lower.

The Nubia Z17 will ship with a 5.5” FHD display, up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage memory, and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 835 processor.

A June release is expected.
