Windows7 Netbook edition doing rounds on net

This custom version is not Microsoft approved and a scaled-down Ultimate

Most netbooks today come pre-loaded with Windows7 Starter edition which has great many limitations. For those who want to go little snappier and don’t mind a hacked copy – Liliputing reports of a special hacked Windows7 version called Windows7 netbook version doing rounds on the net. One of sites having it is Darelease.com where you will get the whole copy to download.

The Netbook edition Build 7264 X86 is sized at 1.49GB. It’s so optimized for netbook that even the ancient Asus Eee PC 701 with only 4GB of disk space should be able to run it. Made by the group ModMyEee, this version retained all the networking capabilities and hardware support. The system requirement is crazy – you need just a minimum of 256MB of memory, a CPU with less than a GHz would do, and all it needs is 4GB of hard disk space. The file downloaded is not bootable, but there is instruction available on how to make it so. Even if you don’t have the updated Vista drivers, you can manage with your old XP drivers – just set the compatibility mode correct by right-clicking the executable file. There is also instruction on how to install the OS from an USB drive.

I am not sure if one gets away with this illegal piece of software. Windows7 incorporates a new online activation method that is hard to bypass. As Liliputing says, it may be a pre-release version of the software, which may get blocked sooner or later. But then hackers have always been up to the Windows hacking task, so you can never deny a possibility here. Download at your own risk though, and we strongly don’t recommend it.
