The Japanese company Fujitsu has recently unveiled the latest of their LIFEBOOK S series. The new device, called LIFEBOOK SH530, comes with an Intel Core i3, i5 or Pentium P6100 processor at its heart, a 13.3-inch HD-ready display, up to 500GB of storage space and a pre-installed copy of Windows 7.

Configuration

This portable PC is supposedly equipped with a SuperFine HD-ready wide screen which is 13.3 inches in diagonal. Moreover, it has LED backlighting and a native resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels. The TFT LCD display offers consumers high quality picture and is reportedly powered by an ATI graphics controller – the Mobility Radeon HD 5430 has 512KB video memory, 800MHz memory speed, provides support for DirectX 11 and is ranked 133 on our GPU Benchmark list.

When users buy the new LIFEBOOK SH530 they can choose one of three central processing units - Intel Pentium P6100 clocked at 2.40GHz, Intel Core i3-370M with a core speed of 2.40GHz (ranked 37 on our CPU Benchmark list) or Core i5-460M (2.53GHz core frequency) that features Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology (core speed goes up to 2.80GHz).

In terms of system memory and storage, the notebook comes with either 2GB or 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM (max. 8GB) and up to a 500GB rotating SATA hard drive (5400 rpm).

Connectivity

Consumers can easily exchange data with other devices thanks to two USB 2.0 ports and an integrated Bluetooth module. In addition, the laptop offers an ExpressCard/34 and Secured Digital/ SDHC/Memory Stick slots as well as VGA and e-SATA ports. Moreover, the built-in HDMI interface allows users to watch HD videos on an external TV.

Other features include Ethernet LAN and 802.11b/g/n wireless adapters for surfing the web and a 1.3MP webcam for video calls.

Other specs and pricing

The new LIFEBOOK SH530 supposedly sports a 6-cell battery which according to the product’s web site can last up to 4.3 hours. This portable PC comes in two colors – Anodized Black or Anodized Ruby Red, and weighs about 1.99kg (or 4.39lb).

The notebook also ships with a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium (both 64-bit) and a spill-resistant keyboard.

There is still no word on availability and pricing.
