Mtron develops 1.8” SSD with 128 GB
The South Korean manufacturer Mtron is the first who presents a 1.8” solid state drive with a disk size of 128 GB. It is not only very compact, but its read- and write-speeds are very fast as well.
The manufacturer Mtron already called attention to itself in August 2007, because they presented some very fast solid state drives. Now they developed a new 1.8” SSD with a disk size of 128 GB. They used the Multi-Level-Cell-Design when constructing the SSD, to reach higher data transfer rates as their competitors. This design enables a reading speed of 110 MB/s and a writing speed of 40 MB/s. Furthermore, they used a PATA interface instead of a SATA one. This makes maximum reading speeds of 120 MB/s, and maximum writing speeds of 100 MB/s possible. That’s more than new solid state drives can reach, which are built in Single-Level-Cell-Design. The disk will be available in April 2008, but there’s no word about a price so far.
