Samsung presents fast 256 GB SSD
The new Samsung SSD should be the fastest 2.5” SSD and at the same time it is the thinnest solid state disk with 256 GB.
Samsung presented a new solid state disk. This new disk should read data with 200 MB/s and write data with 160 MB/s. It is equipped with multi-level-cell chips and its size measures only 9.5 mm.
The SSD’s energy consumption is only 0.9 watts, which is way below a normal hard drive. Additionally, there is an encryption integrated which protects data, even when the disc gets removed from the notebook.
Some samples of the SATA SSD will be delivered in September 2008 and its mass production starts at the end of 2008.
