A new type of NAND flash memory was developed in Japan. The new one is a ferroelectric NAND module.

Scientists of the University in Tokyo developed a new sort of NAND flash memory. The new module needs less power than conventional flash memory’s.

The new memory consists of ferroelectric NAND modules which offer some advantages besides its low energy needs. The new development makes it possible to shrink the structure size of the chip to 10nm (current chips only reach 20nm).

Another advantage is the life cycle of the new modules. The ferroelectric NAND module allows getting written 100 million times. The life cycle of current NAND flash memory’s is not that good.
