Lenovo: the 14-inch G460 is now available for purchase
The new G460 comes in two pre-configured versions but customers can customize a notebook themselves.
The Chinese PC manufacturer, Lenovo, released their new Essential laptop. The G460 is equipped with an Intel processor and graphics card, DDR3 system memory, a high capacity hard drive, a Bluetooth module and a 6-cell battery. In addition, the device runs on Windows 7 OS.
Configuration
Customers can reportedly customize their laptop on Lenovo’s web site or they can purchase one of the two pre-configured models – 06774DU or 06774CU, the latter being the one with the better configuration.
The 06774DU comes with an Intel Core i3-350M central processing unit clocked at 2.26GHz and has 3MB of L3 cache. Furthermore, this processor is ranked 51 on our CPU Benchmark list. The 06774CU model features an Intel Core i5-450M CPU (ranked 33 on our CPU Benchmark list) which has a core speed of 2.40GHz and 3MB of L3 cache.
Both models of the G460 can supposedly sport up to 500GB of rotating SATA hard drive (5400 rotations per minute) and can house up to 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 system memory. In addition, the units have a 14-inch WXGA TFT wide screen with LED backlighting and a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels. As for the video card, the 06774DU and the 06774CU are apparently equipped with an Intel HD Graphics GPU integrated in the processor.
Connectivity
The G460 comes with a BCM 4313 BGN Wireless adapter, thanks to which users can stay connected to the Internet, and a Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR which allows consumers to exchange data and transfer files quite quickly. Moreover, this laptop ships with an HDMI port so that high definition videos can be watched on an external TV.
Other specs, availability and pricing
Lenovo has also added a dual layer DVD+/-RW optical drive and a 6-cell battery as well as an “Industry Standard Touchpad”. In addition, the G460 apparently comes in one color – black. Furthermore, the system is powered by a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit version).
According to the product web page, the Lenovo G460 is available for purchase. The 06774DU costs $799 (or approx. €599) whereas the 06774CU costs $899 (or about €675).
