Handheld: the 10.1-inch rugged notebook Algiz XRW has been released
The new Algiz XRW laptop is MIL-STD-810F and IP65 compliant.
The Swedish computer maker, Handheld, has recently introduced their latest rugged portable PC that they called the Algiz XRW. The device is reportedly highly resistant to extreme conditions such as heat, cold, sand, water, dust, vibration, etc. This notebook comes with an Intel processor, 2GB of RAM, a long lasting battery and runs on Windows 7 OS.
Configuration
The new Handheld Algiz XRW is equipped with an Intel Atom Z550 processor. Reportedly, the central processing unit has a core speed of 2GHz, 512KB of L2 cache and 533MHz Front Side Bus. In addition, it is ranked 344 on our CPU Benchmark list.
The display of this laptop is 10.1 inches in diagonal and has a native resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels. Furthermore, the wide screen has high brightness and LED backlighting as well as the MaxView Technology (which means that the display is readable even in direct sunlight).
This device also houses 2GB of system memory and is equipped with 64GB solid state hard drive.
Connectivity
In order to connect to the Internet, consumers can use the built-in 802.11b/g/n wireless or the Gobi 2000 module (optional). Customers can also connect to other devices and exchange data with the help of the two USB 2.0 ports and the Bluetooth v.2.0 + EDR. Other available ports and slots include a VGA, an SD slot, a 9-pin serial RS-232, a microphone-in, a headset jack, etc. GPS is also included.
Thanks to the integrated speaker and 2MP web camera with auto focus video conferencing is possible.
Other specs, pricing and availability
The new Handheld Algiz XRW is quite portable and compact as it supposedly only weighs 1.5kg (or approx. 3.3lb) and its dimensions are 260 x 178 x 40mm (10.2 x 7.0 x 1.6 inches). According to the manufacturer, the device sports a 4800mAh, 57.6Wh battery which can last up to 8 hours on one charge. The notebook is reportedly IP65 and MIL-STD-810F compliant and also features an LED-illuminated keyboard.
In addition, the portable PC ships with a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate operating system. Apparently, the new Handheld Algiz XRW will be available in December but there is no information about pricing.
