Faulty Nvidia Chips on MacBooks

MacBook Pros affected by faulty Nvidia chips

Although NVIDIA told Apple in Summer that MacBook Pro notebooks are not affected by the faulty chips, Apple's investigation has now shown that there are some MacBook Pro notebooks out there with faulty GeForce 8600M GT chips that cause video display problems.

Products affected are MacBook Pro 15-inch and 17-inch models with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processors, manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008.

If your MacBook Pro has these issues, Apple will repair it for free, even if it's out of warranty.
