Novel “touchpad” by Alps Electric

Alps Electric developed a modern touchpad technology, which works even if the finger is 3 cm above the sensor.
The internet news site Tech-On! reports that the manufacturer Alps Electric developed a new technology. This “Minute Capacitance Sensing” technology enables using the touchpad even if the hand or finger is 3 cm above the sensor.
The technology recognizes the electrical field of the finger. They already presented a notebook with this new sensor at the Alps Show 2008 and it was able to control the laptop and move the cursor without contact.
