New competition for Asus Eee PC
The manufacturer E-Lead Electronics developed the Noahpad.
The Asus Eee PC is extremely successful and other manufacturers want to profit by this situation too. Therefore, the company E-Lead Electronic from Taiwan developed the Noahpad UMPC. This ultra mobile PC is equipped with a 7” display (LED background illumination). The used CPU is a VIA Eden processor with 1 GHz, and 512MB of RAM are also built in. A standard 30GB hard disk is integrated, but in contrast to the Eee PC’s SSD. The pre-installed operating system is Ubuntu 7.10, but Windows XP can be installed as well. A nice gimmick is the keyboard, because it is spitted into two parts. Therefore typing should be easier. Likely more information will be available after the CES.
