The virtual threat of bad software increased in the past years. The physical attacks of unauthorized users grew as well. MSI wants to protect its notebooks against such accesses, and equips its professional series with new security features. The laptops of the series PR200, PR210, PR400 and PR620 will get this new TÜV certified features. That’s biometrical access control, and personalized data encryption. The biometric access control works with a finger print reader, and provides access only to authorized users with the correct finger print. Additionally, there is a BIOS password and normal passwords too. The finger print does not protect only the start activity of the notebook, it can also be used as password replacement (e.g. when using online banking). The second security feature is the personalized data encryption: MSI FileSave. This protects data in case of loss or theft of the notebook. All data is secured, even when the hard disk gets removed and built in another computer. The FileSave can be protected by using a password or securing by a finger print. The notebooks with this new security features are already available, and the price of the cheapest one (PR210) starts at € 849,-.
