Lenovo remote PC lockdown
Lenovo makes it harder for laptop thieves
PC manufacturer Lenovo have announced plans for an extra security measure to be introduced on certain models of their Thinkpad notebooks. Since it could be very troublesome if you have sensitive personal or business data stored on your stolen notebook, Lenovo's technology enables you to disable your notebook via a mobile phone text message should it ever get snatched. This new feature is called Lenovo Constant Secure Remote Disable. To activate the Lockdown PC feature, you would simply a text message with a pre-defined kill command of your own choosing and your laptop will be disabled. You also get a confirmation message back to you. This feature will only work if your WWAN enabled laptop is within range of a cellular network. The notebook will lock down until a custom pass code is entered to unlock the system making it unusable.
