Pegatron unveils a Freescale powered netbook
This netbook has a super sleek design and a long battery life
Pegatron, established in 2008, is a Taiwan-based leading Design and Manufacturing Service company whose product line covers motherboards, desktop PCs, notebooks, broadband, wireless systems, game consoles, networking, PBX, multimedia, LCD TV, and more. Pegatron has come up with a new netbook which almost resembles the Wistron N900z netbook (at least in terms of specs) which was showcased at Computex.
Pegatron’s new netbook is powered by the Freescale IMX51 800MHz ARM based processor and runs Xandros Linux operating system. The best part about this netbook is that it has a very sleek and skinny design with a weight of just around 800g and a long battery life (about 8 hours) that makes it ultra-portable. The keyboard on this device is really big, has a good build quality, and feels responsive. The mouse has a single button. Another version of the same netbook was also showcased, which was running on Movial, an easy to use Linux based operating system. Other features on the netbook include:
· 4GB SSD
· 2 USB 2.0 ports
· WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G UMTS, and GPS
· Audio in/out
· Card reader (most probably 4-in-1)
· VGA port
· Mini USB port
There is no word yet regarding the price and availability of this model, but, it is expected to be priced around $200 so as to compete with Wistron N900z netbook.
