HP wants to outsource more of its notebook production
The company HP plans to outsource more of its 15.6-inch laptop fabrication in 2009.
The internet news site Digitimes report that HP wants to outsource approximately 13 – 15 million of its 15.6-inch 16:9 notebook production. Therefore, the manufacturer will produce less laptops on its own.
The notebooks will be manufactured in Taiwan by Quanta Computer, Wistron, Inventec and Foxconn Electronics. Thereby, 10 – 12 million pieces will be produced by Quanta Computer and Wistron and two million laptops by Inventec and Foxconn Electronics.
Furthermore, those 15.6-inch notebooks will offer LED backlight (BLU) and approximately 80% of 14- and 15-inch laptops will provide BLU as well.
