Dell releases a new multi-touch Studio 17 notebook

Dell.com has released a Studio 17 with multi-touch for US customers

Dell's Studio range is designed for users seeking better performance than the notebooks offered in the Inspiron range, but who'd rather not extend their budget to cover the cost of an XPS notebook. Dell.com has added a feature page (pictured) demonstrating their new multi-touch display, available on the Studio 17.

A standard Studio 17 starts at $599, but the new multi-touch Studio 17 starts at $899. Here is a comparison of the two models:-

There's not much separating the two in terms of core specifications. The new multi-touch Studio 17 offers an extra 1GB of RAM, 90GB of hard drive space, and of course, the multi-touch display, compared to the standard version; yet it costs an extra $300. That's a significant price difference for a machine which provides essentially the same performance level as the standard version.

Customers who value multi-touch functionality that much are able to buy the new Studio 17 directly from Dell.com. If you'd like to find out more about the standard Studio 17, you can read reviews of it here.
