Acer wants to develop low-cost notebook as well

The manufacturer Acer wants to develop a low-cost notebook like Asus did with their Eee PC.
The chairman of Acer published, that they want to design a cheap notebook for beginners. It will have a 7” or 9” display, and probably will be available in 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2008. This sounds nice so far, but Acer should brood over the price again, because it will cost $ 470,-. That’s much more than the price of Asus Eee PC. Furthermore, there are notebooks for beginners e.g. made by Dell which cost only $ 499,-, and are equipped with a 15.4” display.
