ATI demonstrates Mobility Radeon HD 4000 graphics processor
ATI has demonstrated working samples of its ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4000-series graphics processors at Ceatec trade-show in Japan. A new breed of ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4000 graphics processing units (GPUs) has been in development for some time now. The card shown featured a 55nm-built GPU codenamed either M96 (HD 4600) or M98-L (HD 4800).
The company has now a wide range of new Mobility Radeon HD models in preparation, including 4650, 4670, 4850, and 4870, besides the dual-GPU solution. Evidence for this comes from the list of devices that are supported by ATI Catalyst drivers, where a Mobility Radeon HD 4850 X2 card can be spotted.
For the demonstration at the Ceatec trade-show company used a development motherboard, which means that the card will have to wait for notebook machines able to use it.
