The company is rumored to have built a tiny adapter just weeks after releasing the similarly small DWA-131 11n WLAN adapter

A rumor has emerged that D-Link has manufactured the 'world's smallest' 11n WLAN USB adapter. According to Marketnews.ca, the DWA-121 is 'about the size of a dime'. However, D-Link has another 11n WLAN USB adapter, which is also about the size of a dime, measuring just 18(W) x 34.4(D) x 7.7(H) mm (0.7 x 1.4 x 0.3 inches) and weighing 3.1g (0.007 lb).

D-Link issued a press release almost a month ago announcing the release of its new WLAN USB adapter, the DWA-131, which was available in the UK on the 21st of December last year, for an MSRP of £34.99 from Play.com. It's now available in the US from D-Link's online store for $49.99 (excluding shipping) and from Amazon.com for $44.08 (including shipping). UK shoppers can still get it from Play.com, but its price has increased to £39.99 (including shipping).

The DWA-131 is an 11n wireless adapter with support for WPA and WPA2. It features a push button which activates a secure connection to a WLAN within range. It is also backwards compatible with 11g and features an LED for connection and activity notification.

There is no official news on the US or UK D-Link websites about the DWA-121 yet. It's strange, therefore, for such rumors to surface in light of the fact that D-Link released an almost identical product just a few weeks ago. Marketnews.ca reported on this story a few days ago and it didn't reveal its source, but if the rumor is true, then D-Link will probably announce something official very soon.
