Flash memory is extremely cheap
The NAND flash memory never has been cheaper. The demand on those flash memory chips is low and it can get stopped only by manufacturers.
The internet news site DigiTimes report that the price of NAND flash memory chips has dropped again. Currently, an 8 gigabit chip costs only $ 2.35. This drop in prices refers to the low demand on such chips and this is based on fear of inflation.
The situation of 16 gigabit chips is similar, because there is pressure of prices. It would be possible, that on 16 gb chip soon costs less than $ 4.
Only the manufacturers can work against this situation. The DRAM production has to get increased with NAND chips, but this could compromise the DRAM market.
